Meanwhile I'm holding and hoping it will go up beyond 3 again so I can sell.

This is a really dangerous way to invest. If you sell your winners and keep your losers hoping they'll go up your portfolio will be sure of losers in no time flat.

If you have reasons to believe the company will recover that's one thing -- but never never use your buy price as part of the sell decision. It just gets emotion and ego into play and that's really not a good idea.
