My husband is on medicare - we have been told that each state is different as far as medicare coverage is concerned. (Thought this was a National Plan). How does one compensate for this while traveling? I have tried our medicare office and they can't "speak for other states" They cannot tell me anything. Tried calling a couple of the states we are going to visit and have not had the time to wait and wait and wait to speak to a live person.

Any comments out there?

Are you sure you are not confusing MediCARE with MedicAID? As I understand it, Medicare is totally Federally funded. Medicaid, on the other hand, is jointly funded by the Feds and the individual states. There are differences between states there but Medicare should be consistent among the 50 states.

When I spoke to my local MediCARE office rep - she stated that each state is different. Does anyone in government really know what they are doing? I will try more research. Thanks for the guidance.
