This is an update on the famous "spin-off spreadsheet" created by synchronicity. This .xls file is a set of worksheets for calculating the tax basis of AT&T and all its "babies" since about 1959. The spreadsheet has not been updated to cover the SBC/Ameritech exchange, or VOD's 5:1 split in 1999, but otherwise it should be complete and accurate, as a calculation aid. You should consult with appropriate investment and tax advisors before taking any actions regarding your stock holdings or your tax filings. As before, readers of The Motley Fool message boards can send email to synchronicity to request the spreadsheet via email. (Just locate a synchronicity post and use TMF's "E-Mail Reply" capability to send your request.) To make it even easier for people to obtain the helpful spreadsheet, synchronicity and phooley have made it available for you to download over the web. An overview of the set of worksheets is given, to help you decide whether you could benefit from this very useful tool. Just go to www.geocities.com/WallStreet/Fund/4648/att-info/ to check the overview and download the file. Your email feedback is welcome! Phooley |
