What safety or credit card back ups do people use while travelling?

similar to the other responses -
I travel with more than one card (no fee cards if traveling abroad) and have images of the front & back of those cards stored electronically, so if I need to call for customer service, I have all the info for that card immediately available.
My (work related) travel is down to @14 trips a year. Still enough to not want to be stuck without a payment method.

P.S.: our credit card numbers have been stolen everywhere, even a few miles from home.
How?

I used to travel all.the.time (40+ times a year) and have never had a CC number stolen.
I use all methods of internet payments.
Only once have I had a debit card skimmed.
Once.
At a gas station about an hour from home.
Mr(then)15 told me the reader looked dodgy, but I had already chosen debit as the payment option.
I wasn't even very surprised the next day when I got the alert of suspicious activity.
Have never paid for gas with a debit card again either.

peace & protection
