About once a month I fix "Indian cereal"--corn meal mush w/ground flaxseed and toasted sunflower seeds, a little salt, cream and maple syrup. (When my kids were little I used to buy a corn meal-flax-sunflower seed blend at the local Erewhon natural food store.)

I reached with my grabber for a new bag of corn meal at the back of the top pantry shelf, but only came up with the bag of masa harina I bought for the pandemic(!). Masa harina is lime-ground corn flour used for making tortillas, tamales, and other Mexican goodies.

I'm here to tell you it made great Indian cereal! No lumps to smush up either. It tasted slightly different and had a more baby-food-like consistency, but the hubster didn't show that he noticed.

Since that bag "expired" a couple months ago, I'm glad I have a use for it. I never did make homemade tortillas or tamales during the pandemic ;-)
