sdecofool Exp Growth Using Daily Prices #77367
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=13154582
Warning a somewhat long post.

Loren's exponential growth model is based on using
weekly prices, using Friday close. When I tried to
use another day (Wednesday to match the VL data) the
stocks selected changed, sometimes dramatically.
Because Loren's model uses only 27 data points, I
began wondering what would happen with the model using
daily closing prices. I used both three and six
months of daily data to see what would happen to the
stocks selected.

Manlobbi Index integrated with this board #77399
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=13157321
I have just written three new functions for the MI Dynamic Index all of which you can find by visiting www.digitalscores.com/mi and looking under 'extended options'.

New functions:

(1) Multiple navigation modes (normal, entire thread, all)
(2) The ability for people to change the order of menus.
(3) Motley Fool MI Board integration mode.

Sux2BeU First shot at MI stop loss..... #77449

Fools!

-I've built the first INSTANTHistory product. I've put together the daily history for monthly RS-IBD from 4/84-12/99. The master file, including all graphs and position/portfolio breakdowns, is +27Mb large. Compressed it is 9Mb. Yeah, pretty big, but it is 16 years of daily data.....

Sux2BeU Free daily data........ #77513
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=13162441
Ok, it sounds like there are so many willing researchers out there, so many questions to answer, and I am so burnt out from all of this that I'm just going to release the daily data for anyone and everyone to download (who can--the damned thing is 9MB compressed!) for free.

Sux2BeU Daily RS-IBD monthly data available now #77617

Fools!

-I've posted the first INSTANTHistory product on my site. As I mentioned its free as they all will be so y'all can do all kinds of research.

Go to http://members.fortunecity.com/jmsellers and go to the RSI/IH page (first link). Scroll down to near the bottom. You'll see the discussion on IH products and the little link to hit to download. Remember that this file is 9MB compressed, so unless you have a T1 or something fat like that it's going to be a while.

unslo VLGD_PEG 1969-1985 REPORT #77645
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=13173862
Reports have been gathered for all but 3 years. 11 years are finished through round one...Data gathered and entered into spreadsheets and in the hands of the error checking team. 3 additional years have most of the reports in and are entering the data. 7 years are complete. Once all this is complete it will take me about a month to assemble all the spread sheets and do some final error checking.

Unintended Uses for MI (deep gratitude)

by xerohype

This is my first post to the MI board, I want to express a deep sense of gratitude to everyone who contributes to this board. I don't use the screens the way they were intended, but someday I might move most of my stock holdings to MI.

arezi Mechanical Trading #77709
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=13178098
At various times over the past year or so, the question has been asked whether it might not be possible to augment MI with trading rules or some form of TA. While some have thought so, others have been adamantly sceptical. The problem has always been backtesting such ideas since they first must be expressed as code that is testable and since data must be available.

gelasmus An Alternate Universe Failure #77761
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=13180811
As we continue to datamine and play with asset allocation and switching in an attempt to improve our screen performance, it occurred to me that perhaps we could improve on the base of the screens... the ValueLine universe (specifically the Valueline Timeliness 1 & 2 stocks).

An alternate happened to come across my desk in the form of something called the Spear Report, which takes the best-prior-performance stock newsletters, then does a classic overlap, listing any stocks which appear twice among the 7 best newsletters. Sounded very MI-ish.

Wotdabny More Monthly Madness #77773
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=13181425
While preparing a post yet to be put up on this board, I happened to notice that in my quick look at monthly returns using CAPRS or RSCAP, I used only overlaps -- for some reason it hadn't occured to me to use SOS's. Odd. So I plugged in a few, in a non-methodical kind of way (I know, I should know better, but it's late, and I've been crunching data for days now). Here's some of the better ones, with a wee bit of context:
