Mike...that is is exactly what it is. In the olden days, it was common to 'Gig' cadets that had acted improperly. The cry originated over time probably from heckling spectators that were pushing the authority to "gig him". It is now used as a rallying cry for Aggies to beat whomever they are playing, hence, "Gig 'em, Ags"
