Mordechai Kedar has made an interesting proposal which he calls the "eight state solution" based on the idea that there are tribes/clans that dominate various regions within the west bank and gaza, with longstanding feuds between them (to the extent that for example the al-Masri (side note:interesting name) from Nablus generally won't marry the hourani in qalqilya and so forth). To expect such clans to unite into a stable palestinian country without dissolving into internal feuds seems a bit farfetched. He advocates separate government and independence for each of these regionsand from each other, which could be a stable model like the emirates. It might not be practical, but it's something to think about (IMHO). If you're interested in seeing more I can find a link. He's also a fairly frequent guest on al jazeera as he speaks perfect arabic.

Yeah, pretty much like Bantustans in South Africa, or Indian reservations in America. There's nothing like deciding for the poor natives what's best for them and maintaining supremacy.
