More than 200 snow and ice sculptures have been erected for the Sapporo Snow Festival, which opens Feb. 5. Among the main attractions this year in the city that hosted the 1972 Winter Olympics is a gigantic Disney-sponsored tribute to the classic sci-fi movie Star Wars, a marketing spectacle in advance of the next installment in the series, set to be released this coming December.

Behind most romantic Disney heroes—and heroines—is a good wingman. A “wingman” is, by unofficial definition, the person who helps or supports a hero on their road to happily ever after, who lends a helping hand or a timely push when needed. As the turrets turned pink, more rockets burst into the sky leaving glowing trails of smoke while classic Disney songs blasted into the crowd. Watching the Wishes Night-time Spectacular pyrotechnics show certainly made our first night at Walt Disney World, Florida, go with a bang. Setting the tone for a long-weekend of perfect movie-ending fantasy, it was enough to make my heart race, and even bring tears to my eyes.
