These have the best answers to your questions. You have to look at investing from a Long Term Buy and Hold Strategy.

But To Answer your question?? I think it is never to LATE to buy a stock, if it represents your investment strat. Again, the reason I recommend the above books is that I believe they will answer your questions in a simple manner.
