Ok, what companies will benefit from this?

I see Realnetworks becoming a 50 billion dollar corporation if MS is broken up. Real could get 90-95% marketshare and easily dominate. The new company won't be able to bundle Windows Media Player with the OS anymore. The company wouldn't have the power to get Window Media Player supported by as many sites. Third, the new company wouldn't be as focus. I see REAL as a benefactor.

Expect to see MS Office on linux and more support for MacOS. How will this effect Novel?

any others?

p.s. IMO, the government doesn't know what their doing. Breaking MS up into a Application and OS company creates two monopolies. They should release the code. That way MS would still be one (and continue to innovate as Bill Gates likes to say) and allow other companies to innovate and integrate their programs with windows.
