Excellent post, thanks for the info. I hadn't been considering the margin of safety they would use in issuing the warranty (unless they are pricing some replacement cost into the purchase price--is the warranty transferrable if the car is sold?). And it does make sense that replacement cost will drop in the future as more are made.

Still, I would be leery of buying a used one until there is more data available on battery life.
