Folks, there is quite a bit of opinon on either side of this issue. However, look at the situation...

MSFT has pioneered the personal computer through its operating systems. If they had not been there, would someone else have been the subject of this ruling?

MSFT has had very strong marketing and management practices, past the point of just being assertive. They have been the penultimate capitalists in the 20th century. Is that bad, according to the "Amercican Way"?? (Note: I do not necessarily defend this aggressive practice and do not practice it in my own work.) MSFT is not the only high tech company with the huge ego and "monopoly-wannabe" attitude... just take your pick of any of the leaders with the big names in any specific aspect of the computer business.

Why have the DOJ, Judge Jackson, and the 17 states (used to be 19?) treked down this, seemingly vindictive, slippery path? What REALLY prompted this issue? (Remember that Gates was a big supporter of Pres. Clinton in his campaigns.)

If the DOJ gets their wish and this case moves directly to the US Supreme Court, and does not get kicked back to a lower court of appeals, any bets on who will win? (I haven't a clue.)

Finally, what will happen to the MSFT stock in either scenario? (Remember, to hastily sell may be ok for some, but what about the long-term goals you have? Of course, one could sell some or all of your MSFT stock and then re-invest in another POSITIVE high tech company, such as INTC or EMC. Yeah, Yeah, INTC may be rated lower by some financial analysts, but they are a good company and have excellent products and very good financials. But, INTC is another story.)

So, what are you going to do?

Most likely, what is best for you and your investment philosophy.

Good Luck, phellow phools. :>)
