I'd suggest anyone thinking of throwing it all away and moving to the islands to read the book "Don't stop the Carnival" by Herman Wouk. It's the inspiration for jimmy's CD by the same name, which is really the soundtrack to a musical that Buffet and Wouk tried to get going.

It depends on how you like the culture of your host country. I lived 14 years overseas, that is the US, and it was good.
There will always be some things that are different from home, the way you were used to. An open spirit and and being somewhat prepared for what you'll find and you are in a good starting position.

I recently moved back to Europe. Partly to find out what my home country is like these days.
Now I'm the stranger again.
