My calculations show a 17 year break even point, so I'll be 83. We declined his offer. However, if we were not using the spousal benefit for DW, the break even point would be 12.5 years and I'll be 78.5, probably worth delaying a couple of months.



If your wife waits until 70, she's looking at around 20 years to break even. Is she confident of living to 90?
