My concern is that how should I deal with my previous employer 401k account?

In your case, if possible, I'd just leave it in my x-employers 401k account. I made the mistake of moving a couple small x-401ks into an IRA that then unfortunately made backdoor not interesting for me later. Couldn't move it into my future employer's 401k without very clean paperwork from the IRA holder etc.

Not sure your age or risk level, but my tendency is to just put everything into the Vanguard SP500 fund.
