My father's retirement hobby was cooking, especially baking bread, and his Irish Soda bread was one of his best, along with his challah. He even gave baking classes at a local cookware store.

But now that I low-carb, especially avoiding sugar, grains, and dried fruit, no Irish soda bread for me, but I will be fixing New England boiled dinner, which is corned beef & cabbage plus root vagetables like onions and carrots. My husband's birthday is St Paddy's Day, and he loves this meal.

=alstro, with nary a drop of Irish blood so far as I know, but I wear green on St Paddys to show respect for America's many people of Irish descent

PS--I do eat a little grain...had lox & cream cheese w/capers & onion on pumpernickel for breakfast, a rare treat
