My husband gets incentive pay for things like getting a patent or having an article he wrote published. His company gives him $1000 and then an additional $750 to make up for the increase in payroll taxes. I think that incentive pay is taxed like a bonus at a much higher rate than normal salary.

It is tough to see so much go to taxes!!!
