INTRO Here's my semi-annual exercise to see if I remember why I own the stocks I own, and so I can check back and see if their stories have changed. I post in case it helps others too.

AMSC
AMSC (market cap is $0.188B was $0.171B)
AMSC (formerly AMerican SuperConductor)

AMSC's sells to large customers who want to improve the efficiency of transmitting electricity. An early target was superconducting cable that could "do for electricity what fiber optics did for communications". As the company has matured it has incorporated their technology into voltage regulators, motors, and other applications. The company also helps with the design of wind power equipment, thanks to an acquisition several years ago.

After major disruptions to revenues a few years ago, the company has experienced revenue growth, but has yet to recover to that same level. Growth is good. Profitability will be better.

Despite great potential, the company hasn't revolutionized the industry, yet. I do not get a clear indication that there is a near-term catalyst, besides the hope for profitability.

I considered selling a while ago, but the price drop happened while I was distracted by work. With new news, I'd consider holding and maybe buying; but without new news, I may sell to shift to more promising stocks.

DISCLOSURE LTBH since 2003 but the first shares were sold years ago, fortuitously in hindsight because I actually made a profit.
(I've also collected links to the other discussion boards and my other stocks over on my blog http://trimbathcreative.net/2020/06/30/semi-annual-exercise-... )
