My monitor is a little sticker my mechanic puts in the upper left corner of my windshield!

Seems to magically work!

I have run into a technical issue to watch out for with this particular monitoring system. :)

My mechanic writes in the date and mileage 3 months and 3000 miles from the oil change date. But I prefer to go with 6 months and 6000 miles (my owner's manual calls for 7500 miles or a year). This means the sticker will still be attached long after the date and mileage on the sticker has passed.

The problem arose when I took the car into the car wash. Someone there must have read the sticker, decided it was well out of date, and removed it. That kind of destroyed the whole oil monitoring system. ;)
