My opinion of Kiyosaki: Snake-oil salesman.

Lets be realistic, almost all his wealth came from selling "get rich" books, seminars and tapes. There is little or no evidence that he had any noticeable wealth before getting into the "get rich" business. After years of avoiding his books, I finally read them this year (one of the advantages of early retirement, plenty of free time- even enough time to read crappy "finance" books- and I did NOT pay for them- the local library wasted my tax dollars on them, lol). His stuff is standard "get rich" fare- a little truth, a LOT of bluster, a little "heres the secret they don't want you to know" and some downright stupidity, cleverly packaged and sold to an eager public looking for easy wealth. Lets face it, most people don't want to hear "live below your means and invest for the long term". They'd rather hear some cocky, hyper, motivational speaker type give them the "secret."

He's not the first (anyone remember Charles Givens, the "Robert Kiyosaki" of the 80s?), and won't be the last...
