Greetings, Fool.

No, you haven't found a companion area to The Twilight Zone or that cute little dinasour movie series, The Land Before Time (up to 1998's #6, The Secret of Saurus Rock). This is a message board set aside (way aside, sometimes) for conversations that aren't necessarily congruent with other message board mandates.

For example, the board itself started because a debate about censorship threatened to overwhelm the Amazon.com message board in the summer of 1998. No, it wasn't a step to stifle divergent and dissenting voices…it was a choice to allow a stock board to remain on topic while giving those who felt the need to continue the serious debate a forum to do so.

As such, a standard Frequently Asked Questions document would be about as helpful as a life preserver to a drowning man…no, wait, like a glass of water to a man in the desert...no, that's not right, either. In essence, this board is an area where just about any topic is fair game. If you can't find a better place in The Motley Fool to ask your question or post your comment, chances are it will find a home here.

Now, is this a "free speech zone?" No, it's not. The Motley Fool's posting guidelines and cautions (click here for the Message Board Disclaimer and Fool's Rules):

still apply here: no profanity, fraud, chain letter, harassment or impersonations (unless you can do a good George Burns); but, posts should be courteous and responsible. It's okay to disagree with someone, even us. Just make sure you do so in a civil way. And, no, you can't disagree with that. ;o)
