PP&L EnergyPlus Now Licensed to Sell Electricity in New Jersey

PP&L EnergyPlus has obtained an interim license to sell electricity in New Jersey, marking the company's official entry into the newly-deregulated energy market in the Garden State.

That's good news for New Jersey industrial and commercial electric customers who want an experienced supplier to help them understand how to get the most out of electric customer choice.

This is great news. We now have a few more million potential customers!!!! However, PPL anounced today that they are selling bonds in an attempt to reduce debt. This implies that we are heavily into debt and may be viewed unkindly by the market.
Any thoughts?

I think that the issuance of bonds to reduce the debt has already been looked on as favorable by the market. IMHO this is one more move towards PPL becoming a dynamic growth company instead of just treading water and waiting for someone to buy them out.

Value Line still thinks that there is more upside to this company than to the utility sector in general.

Paul
