Anyone out there has any opinion on 'new and improved drilling technology'. Things like: underbalance drilling, casing drilling (drilling with casing as opposed to with drill pipe), use of top mount electric drives. To me, all these techniques sound like reduced cost of 'poking a hole', which should result in ... well, more efficient exploration and work-over programs. But most of all, companies providing these technologies should benefit the most - regardless where the price of oil / gas is going. Any thoughts on this topic? Any ideas who is bringing these techniques to market?
