"The one-year-old company [[Lumenon]] is spending about $20 million building a plant that is expected to make 500 optical devices a day when it goes into production next year [[2001]].

Well, by that time, Bookham (Lumenon's competitor) should have 500,000 ASOC devices produced for a sizeable headstart.

I don't know how Bookham's ASOC devices compare with Lumenon's "Phasic Hybrid Sol Gel Glass" on silicon techology. For starters, they aren't building the same fibre optic components (BKHM makes AWG's, transceivers, etc. while LUMM makes DWDM's), so it's hard to compare apples to apples.

Considering that LUMME used to be a bulletin board stock, they've improved quite a bit.
I think out of BKHM, LPTHA, and LUMM, LUMM is has the biggest potential of a run-up, since it's still undiscovered.
