Next thing, you guys will be hugging eucalyptus trees in Laguna. Bad enough we have all those NoCal tree huggers thinking that they need to keep their lakes filled to the brim and their rivers swelling the banks (doesn't the Russian River wipe out Guernerville about every five years? hey, I know what you can do with that water...) Now we have to worry about duckmaimers sparing the environment from aparthied-oriented Dana Point spec developers.

While the Wilderness Travel Course (WTC) is sponsored by the Sierra Club, it is not a very political group. Some folks are into the politics, but most of us are into enjoying the wilderness and helping others to enjoy it safely.

One of John Muir's goals when forming the Sierra Club was to get people out into the wilderness so that they would see what they were missing. The logic being once you got out into it, you'd be more interested in saving it.

You do not have to be an environmentalist to take the course. You just have to have an appreciation for the wild. There is little to no environmental politics in the class.
