NFL.com would explain but in a nutshell it goes like this.

The division winners are seeded 1-4 according to their W-L record. The wild cards get seeded 5 and 6, better team getting 5th. In the first round, seeds 1 and 2 get a bye, seed 3 gets a home games against seed 6 and seed 4 gets a home game against seed 4. In the second round, seed 1 gets a home game against the lowest seed remaining and seed 2 gets the other team. Round three is the same, highest seed remaining gets the game at home. So in the NFC this year in round two, Philly could play Green Bay, Seatle, or Dallas but cannot play Carolina. St. Louis could play Carolina, Green Bay, or Seatle but cannot play Dallas.
