No, Anurag, in a fully functional market, shorts add liquidity. This is very, very important.

But this is obvious. Who ever participates in the market will have to bring in money.

Is the Chinese market short of liquidity?

What you are implying is that without short selling the people who are indulging in this practice will never participate. I don't agree with it. They still will. So liquidity is not going to suffer. Please explain further...
