Friday, An astrophysicist from Surrey, England died after being hit in the head by a stray bullet while lying in bed during a trip to Atlanta to visit his girlfriend. Several shots were fired from a neighboring apartment building and one struck Dr. Matthew Willson, 31.

A 12-year-old wrote the governor of Tennessee to oppose a new gun law reducing restrictions on guns before winter break. A stray bullet killed Artemis Rayford on Christmas.

The UK has a firearms death rate, homicide and suicide, of 0.23 per 100,000 people.
Georgia has a firearm death rate of 12.1 per 100,000, right in line with the national average.
Only nine countries on the world have a worse firearms death rate than Georgia and the USA. Only eight of them are worse than Tennessee, with a death rate of 16.
