No, this has not been asked before. :-)

I have no idea. I've never tried it, but I would assume so. Most A/V out ports are passive in that there is no active circuitry involved, no on switch to enable. You just plug a device in and it works. I assume.

Who suggests going to Best Buy and asking them to help you try it out with a monitor and a camcorder...
