The Motley Fool tells people to hold for three to five years. It seems to have not lived up to its mantra on TripAdvisor. In June of 2017 TRIP was a Best Buy Now. This after it was recommended three times in the past three years. In December of 2017 it was listed as one of the Fool's best five stocks under $50. In January it was moved to the penalty box, and today it was given a rare sell recommendation. This feels like button mashing especially since the sell recommendation didn't address why the thesis expressed in the Best Buys Now article was incorrect or no longer in tact. Instead, the sell recommendation merely cites a fourth quarter conference call that happened on February 15, 2018. If the Motley Fool is going to make a recommendation that cuts against a core belief its subscribers are entitled to be told why. I think the Fool let us down on this one...
