I have barely left my parent's house and now I am thinking about retirement. I did the math and if I start buying 2 family homes (15 of them), I'll be making ~200k with no mortgages in 14 years. I was wondering who else owns real estate and what the downfalls are? And how much you lose from rent for taxes, fees, and repairs?

I would also like to do some consulting; not too interested in college. Basically anything that can make me wealthy enough to retire comfortably at age 45. Can anyone offer suggestions. I know that with my job, 10k will go into investing, and 20 years of that at 14% (which is my goal) will be a good chunk of change, plus constant revenue from homes. Added to that the homes are equity which can be used in the future if I'd like to improve my standard of living.

I'm not concerned about the here-in-now; I just want to start making decisions _now_ so I can live happily in retirement in a nice neighborhood in 25 years.

Can anyone offer suggestions?
