Now I don't worry about having "goals in life." I have been setting up short-term challenges for myself that I want to do because I enjoy the challenge. When I finish one challenge, I will move on to another one. It will always be something that I'm interested in.

That becomes more true when you are retired. The long term goal is to stay alive and healthy. My short terms challenges are: to keep my back as in good shape as I can and become competant or even good on my musical instruments. That certainly keeps me busy, and it has given me the opportunity to help individuals and groups.

You have to be proactive to achieve anything. You'll never play well unless you practice, and my back won't get better if I don't do my exercises and go to physical therapy.

Right now I'm learning the blues - something about which I know zilch. And my days are so packed. I'm having fun.

And I swear the low carb diet makes me feel better - perkier.
