Noz,

I was one of those weirdos that actually read the 401(k) disclosures they sent to me. The average total fees for my 401(k) was on average 1.5% for domestic equity funds and higher for foreign equities and lower for bonds.

The mutual fund fees were normally about 1% with half a percent for various administrative fees. Reading the disclosures told me that they bank I worked for got .25% as a fee for administration and that my boss got 0.05%, but I could never tell if the 0.05% was included in that 0.25% or not.

Sorry to hear about your son's issues. In my 22 years in the Army I was told multiple times to make a copy of my medical records prior to retirement. Some people even made their own copies during each move when they got possession of their records. Of course it wasn't the powers to be that told you to make your own copies.
