OBAMA'S INAUGURAL SLAP IN THE FACE TO THE MARINES!
Posted Fri February 15, 2013

This is unbelievable ——— Watch the Video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuJRf7HNVSo

Dishonoring the Corps; Marines in inaugural parade had bolts removed from their rifles: Dishonored and disarmed: Bolts are clearly missing from these Marine rifles during President Obama's inauguration parade.

This is an unmistakable insult to the honor of the Marine Corps.

David Codrea has revealed that President Obama has so little regard for the United States Marines risking their lives under his command, that they were forced to dismantle their already empty parade rifles for his second inauguration parade.

This is nothing less than a slap in the face of the Corps: "Didn't know the Marines had to take the bolts out of their rifles for the Inaugural," an email forwarded to Gun Rights Examiner from a United States Marine Corps source observed.

"Wonder if someone can explain why [they] would be marching in the inaugural parade with no bolts in their rifles!"

The email is linked to a YouTube video of the 57th Presidential Inaugural Parade and features Bravo Company Marines from the Marine Barracks in Washington DC.
Sure enough, the observation in the email is confirmed by watching the video, with screen shots provided in the photo and slide show links in this article.

This prompted an internet search to see if others had also noticed, and the Blur-Brain Blog had.

"The bolts have been removed from the rifles rendering them unable to fire a round," the post stated. "Apparently Obama's Secret Service doesn't trust the USMC.
Simply searching each guy to make sure he didn't have a live round hidden on him wasn't enough, they had to make sure the guns were inoperable.

Obama doesn't trust the very men who put their lives on the line to serve their country. I guess it shouldn't be that much of a shock.

Untrustworthy people find it very difficult to believe that other men have honor. Submitted by Betty T.

No bolts in their rifles and brains in your head. It's standard practice just like not carrying loaded weapons on military bases. Remember Fort Hood?

By the way, how many years did you carry a rifle for this country?

i remember a lot of people were shot and killed, because they were following regulations, while the Terrorist did not follow regulation.

many people died needlessly that day.

really a pretty dumb post.

1) like any President arranges their own security

2) I'm an ex 82nd Airborne paratrooper and can tell you it wouldn't hurt my feelings to be in a parade without a weapon. In fact, I would really not have been in ANY of the parades in which I participated, but maybe that's just me

3) you really want to honor your veterans - then be willing to pay the taxes needed to take care of their rehab, their PTSD, their hospitals, their widows and widowers and their children. That would be really honoring them. My honor isn't trotted out for holidays - it is 365.

Parades are window dressing. Get real.

Blogger Gordon Duff from Veterans Today has debunked this, per an email to Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary.

Additionally, I asked DH, former Marine, about this, and he sent me this video of the movie "A Few Good Men", which shows the Marine silent drill team. He points out the lack of bolts in their weapons as well (see @ 01:08). And yes, it's a movie; but, yes, that's the actual Marine team.

Happy to help.

Sorry to disillusion you but if you look close, the marines are carrying M-1 Garands with the charging handle back not 03-A3 Springfields.

C.J.V. - got 3 of them Garands & 2 of them 03-A3s, me

I believe that the drill team portrayed in the beginning of "a Few Good Men" weren't members of The Marine Corps Silent Drill Team. Instead, they were students at Texas A&M University and members of their drill team who were dressed as Marines for the opening sequence of this movie.

IMDB agrees; I stand corrected. Thanks for the info.

I was annoyed by my own mistake so I went digging a little further. Aside from the memo from Mr. Leary I can find no official statement regarding parade or drill team weapons. FWIW there's an interesting conversation dated 2008 here, but again, all anecdotal:

They were probably the Ross Volunteers (See; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqCnW4qiQ8I ), whose drill rifles are the 03-A3 Springfields, I believe.

Once upon a time, President Reagan flew over to Andrews on Marine One to board AF1 for his Thanksgiving trip home to California.

'Tigrm' was passing through, and sat at the passenger terminal 300 feet away with his feet on his competition shooting box, chatting with the Secret Service.

Once upon a time.
