Often, it's the returning dividends of former students ascribing all their success to their teachers.

You're right, of course. The trouble is that the teachers who receive these dividends already were on fire. The dividends might keep the fire going, but they must have been inspired at the start to reap the first round of dividends. I'm thankful that my son was lucky enough to have many fine teachers while in high school. Of course, I had to pay through the nose for it, but it was worth every dime.
