Ok, I understand. Beyond simply the dollar amount needed for purchase, what would make an ETF a smarter move over an index fund, or vice versa? I currently have an index fund (VINIX-Vanguard Institutional Index) I plan on holding long term so the ability to cash an ETF out when it's peaking during the day means nothing to me. Are there any other reasons why I should consider one over the other?

Thanks for your help. While reading all the MF message boards I am continuously amazed at how patient, knowledgeable and most importantly...willing to share the knowledge, the more experienced investors are. You guys have really helped speed up my learning curve.

Thanks again.
