Ok, Ok, I'm being goofy and moronic <G> Actually.....Not so totally off the mark! The syrup used to make Coke is an old-fashioned remedy used to soothe upset tummies. I read about it when my first kid was somewhat colicky. Couldn't find it in my neighborhood, but it was said to be easily available in drugstores in Brooklyn neighborhoods with a high concentration of people from the Caribbean Islands. It's commonly used there. For kids and adults, drinking Coca Cola, if nothing else is available, was advised for helping to settle a distressed stomach.I found this snip, among others:<<Settle down with syrup. A good stomach settler, says Robert Warren, Pharm.D., director of Pharmacy Services at Valley Children's Hospital in Fresno, California, is Coke syrup. "We don't know why it works," Dr. Warren says, "but it does." It also is a good source of easily digestible concentrated carbohydrates (and it tastes good, too!). The children's dose is 1 to 2 teaspoons, adults' dose is 1 to 2 tablespoons, as often as needed between bouts of vomiting.>>sheila
