Is it possible that the nature of the INTC/AMD game may have changed from a Gorilla/Monkey scenario into a Gorilla/Chimp game?

I have seen earlier posts suggesting that this may be a royalty game now but I do not buy it.

IF Intel forces through RDRAM (and I believe they will)and IF Intel places strict controls on their Williamette processor (as they stated in their February conference) then Intel is clearly still a Gorilla (IMO).

In the meantime AMD has their own line of processors and (as of now anyway) AMD is backing DDR. Although AMD processors will run the same software as Intel's, is it possible there may be enough differences to have changed the nature of the game, or would AMD still be a monkey if they are going after the same market?

If the latter is the rationale, then is someone like JNPR a chimp or a monkey to CSCO?
