One day I will give World of Warcraft a shot. I think I would like that.

I started playing a couple of months ago I guess. It has had two unexpected benefits (beyond just the enjoyment of the game). First, I often play with my 12 year old son. This has enabled me to see him in a new light. As a player he is confident and competent. He has an excellent grasp of the nuances of the game ...to the point that some adults I know in real life who have played have commented about it. It is .... (back now from being attached by a greater rock elemental on the other computer...) almost like seeing him as he may be as an adult. Very interesting.

The second benefit is more financial in nature. WoW is actually a cheap hobby. Yes there is a monthly fee to play (works out to around $14 a month). But, I find that I like this hobby more than the hobbies I used to have that involve spending money (like going shopping). As I look over my spending for the last couple of months I have just spent less money because I haven't been as tempted to do things that cost money. Go figure (and before anyone mentions it...yes...I bought a gaming computer but I would have done that pre-WoW).
