How do online trading commissions (or any broker commissions, for that matter) figure into taxes? Do you count them as short-term or long-term losses, or do you count them at all? If you can count them as losses, and you don't have any capital gains to offset, can you forward the losses to the following year?

Thx in advance.

Commissions have no tax effect until you sell the stock. They add to your basis on the buy and reduce your proceeds on the sale.
