ORIGIN Energy will push ahead with an investment decision on the second stage of its Gladstone LNG project after formalising a $US1.1 billion ($1.05bn) deal with China, shrugging off industry concerns about future demand and falling gas prices.

CSG pipeline construction underway

THE construction phase for the main gas transmission pipeline of Australia Pacific LNG project's CSG to LNG project is underway with the first shipment of steel pipe arriving yesterday.
The pipe will be used to construct a 530km gas transmission pipeline that will transport CSG from the gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins to an LNG facility being developed on Curtis Island.

* More than 210 natural gas pipeline systems.
305,000 miles of interstate and intrastate transmission pipelines...

* Our pioneer customer Dominion Transmission operates only 7600 miles (about 2.5% of the U.S total)...and we all know the size of their microturbines' fleet...

<<Dominion Transmission Compressor Stations - Dominion Transmission, which operates 7,800 miles of natural gas pipelines in the Eastern United States, completely disconnected its Ardell transmission station from the local utility in 2001. It found a more efficient and reliable power source in three 60kW CHP Capstone Micro Turbines® that provided electricity to the entire station while saving more than $1 million and reducing its emission of greenhouse gases and conventional pollutants.>>

is this the same dominon? they sure are spending big bucks......

"Our strategic growth plan consists of investments in new infrastructure in all of our regulated lines of business. At Dominion Generation, it involved the construction of new generation to reduce the existing capacity deficit of Virginia Power to meet the expected growth in demand from our service territory and to replace the generating capacity that is being retired, in order to comply with new EPA regulations.

At Dominion Virginia Power, it involves the modernization of the 500 kV loop that has been the backbone of our electric transmission system, as well as upgrades in new service lines to support demand from new customers, including data centers, and to maintain reliability to portions of our service area affected by generation plant retirements.

At Dominion Energy, it involves the construction of the gathering, processing and transmission infrastructure that will be needed to facilitate the natural gas production from Marcellus and Utica Shale formations. It also includes the systematic replacement of much of the pipeline network at Dominion East Ohio. All told, this plan involves about $11.6 billion of new plant investment and identified projects over the next 5 years, providing the foundation for our 5% to 6% expected growth in earnings per share beginning this year, which we again affirm today."

Yes, same group that "discovered" and
pioneered the microturbine solution back in 2001...

As recently as August 2010 they entered into a $ 2 million (?) multi year service contract covering their fleet of around 50 microturbines...

Today more and more Oil & Gas companies are embracing our technology...from Petrobras and Sinopec in the Amazon Basin to Australia's Origin
to the Shale oil in Texas or Pennsylvania to Russia.

Dominion is just a perfect case study as to how
it all works...

A liquefied natural gas (LNG) proponent says its massive gas project off Gladstone, in central Queensland, will create about 9,000 jobs during construction.

Chinese firm Sinopec has signed an agreement to boost its stake in the Australia Pacific (AP) project in Gladstone from 15 to 25 per cent.

The deal is subject to approval by the Foreign Investment Review Board and includes a contract to buy an extra 66 million tonnes of LNG over 20 years.

APLNG's chief executive Page Maxson says thousands of workers are needed to construct its massive gas transmission pipeline and its plant on Curtis Island.

"Over the longer term, the gas fields development will continue for another 20 years or so and so you'll see a lot of those jobs, that continue on, probably 1,500 to 2,000 jobs relating to construction through that time," she said.

Energy analyst Graeme Bethune says the future of the LNG sector in Australia will remain strong for the next 30 years or more.

"Because we've got eight projects under construction now, those projects all have off-take contracts from buyers," he said.

"So that's a huge amount of LNG under construction and guaranteed.

"Overall, Australia has got a substantial amount of gas, both on the east coast and also on the west coast, so there certainly should be enough for our own domestic needs as well.">
