I am trying to by some ADR shares of two companies in Greece. I got the symbol from the SEC Form 6EF, filed over a year ago. The quotes will show up in Yahoo and Google finance. When I tried to buy through Interactive Brokers, the symbols (original or ADR) do no register in their system. Customer service basically said I should contact the company IR (they have not responded to my inquiry yet). Incidentally, IB does not offer the capability to trade on the Athens Stock Exchange. Are their some nuances between the grey market, the pink sheets and other similar markets that would cause some securities not to show up (even though IB said I should have no problem buying ADRs)? Thanks.Sam
I am trying to by some ADR shares of two companies in Greece. What companies?
Metka (METTK or MTKAY) and Mytillineos (MYTIL or MYTHF). First symbol is Athens stock exchange and second symbol is what I pulled from the SEC filings (from SEC live). Websites are below.http://www.metka.com/en/home/metka-home http://www.mytilineos.gr/
Here are the latest quotes. They trade very rarely.http://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/MTKAF/quotehttp://www.otcmarkets.com/stock/MYTHF/quotejkm929
Thanks. Interactive Brokers still does not recoginize the symbols. I filed a ticket to see what the issue is. Sam
Found the answer, if the ADR shares are not registered with the DTC, then IB will not trade them.
if the ADR shares are not registered with the DTC, then IB will not trade them. Do you mean the DTCC (Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation) and registered in the name of Cede and Company?Investors might find this page interesting; or they just might think its author is a nut.http://ming.tv/flemming2.php/__show_article/_a000010-000923....
Found the answer, if the ADR shares are not registered with the DTC, then IB will not trade them.Right under the symbols for the two stock quotes, it says "ordinary shares". I suspect there are no ADRs.jkm929
Maybe, but the company did file the SEC form 6EF w/share counts, and symbols. The more annoying thing is I can't buy them through IB (either on the U.S. or Athens stock exchange).Sam
