Another source of information, from a distant point in space is the Voyager Interstellar Mission (VIM):
NASA finally contacts Voyager 2 again After a year of silence.

V2's first photos and other info were in 1979.
Over the next 12 years, data from a variety of solar system planets, moons, etc were captured.
Then, NASA moved it to an interstellar journey and renamed it Voyager Interstellar Mission.
