You guys are not really covering the subject if you don't give a LOT of attention to NATURAL GAS. Like oil it is also a depletable resource but the distribution of gas around the globe is different. And it's not nearly as far along the depletion curve.

The most natural, logical argument for insufficient supply of oil as a BTU source (vs. a chemical commodity), is the next most commonplace *existing* BTU source. We don't need to plan for the next 2000 years with any urgency. The next 20 are most important right now.

Coal is out there too, but it's been mentioned. Coal kills people. Take your choice, but either of them has huge supply advantages over the more exotic BTU sources. I like all energy sources but prefer the ones which cause the least disease and death.
