Foreign travel experience.

Spent a great week in Scotland playing golf and got back last night.

The biggest issue was with timing of Covid test related to the trip. Took 4 tests in 10 days.
You must check the different restrictions of all counties and airlines of your travel. We had an issue with our "Delta" flights in that KLM was actually flying the last leg and their restrictions were different than Delta's (USA's). Delta was 3 days before flight. KLM's was 72 hours before THEIR flight. This moved the KLM requirement outside our window from our Delta test so that we had to pay $200 to get a test at the airport on Tuesday before departure. Out KLM flight wasn't until Wednesday. We didn't find this out until the night before departure. KLM was most picky on the timing of the covid tests.
We took our first test on Saturday for Tuesday departure. Part of our concern here was test turnaround. Some sources said 2-4 days, others 1-2 days. Actual test turnaround from CVS was 1 day.

Had to order a test to be taken within 2 days of arrival in Scotland. Ordered this online for delivery to our first hotel. Tests were waiting for us when we arrived. Took the test and mailed it in. Had to find a proper mail box, but that wasn't too difficult.

We had to order our RETURN to the USA test PRIOR TO departure and took it with us. Here again the timing is important as you need to be aware of carrier / country requirements when taking this test. Here again KLM was more restrictive than USA. Have to take this online with a company video monitoring you taking this self test (Ellume self test and AZOVA video monitoring). Both have cell phone apps to download. You have to schedule your AZOVA test within your most restrictive window. This test went very smoothly and I wouldn't be concerned about doing this the night before your return to the USA. We took 1 extra test in case someone got a false (hopefully) positive.

The 4 of us took 16 covid19 tests in 10 days.

Everything else about the trip went great except that 2 bags (out of 8) didn't arrive with us in Edinburgh. They arrived 2 days later. At least they weren't the golf clubs and everyone was able to play with their own clubs.

No outraged travelers on any of the 6 flights. All flights were mostly filled (75% plus) and some were completely filled.

PS. Shot 75 on the Old Course with par on Road hole and birdie on #18.
