I agree that Outback Steakhouse is just trying to get in on the great reputation that anything Australian now has here in the US.

Your credit card experience is not limited to non-US citizens. My ex-father-in-law never had a credit card because he always paid cash for everything. When he retired he couldn't get a card because he didn't have a credit history - just had a lot of money!! Couldn't rent a car because you need to have a credit card (or put down a ton of cash as a deposit). That's not unusual for the credit card business here in the US.

I envy you returning to paradise. Sorry that you have some not so great experiences here in the US.
