There are books about it, and I have one, but I formulated several recipes. I only used grapes once. My best one was made from peaches. I'll have to write up more, if you're interested. That one came out very clear, quite dry and delicious.

I never used a kit. I used a small, white clean (!) trash barrel for the first ferment and then went to a very large jug. I also used the usual equipment, including a homemade airlock, made from 2 old pill bottles for letting CO2 out but no air in, etc.
