I just found this on the german news site heise.de

http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/pmo-31.08.00-003/

There are currently 3 pilot projects being tested in Helsinki which will enable people to pay for their parking spot with a mobile phone instead of putting money in a meter.

That is especially important considering that the EURO will coming 1st of January 2001 and the old systems will no longer work. Very interesting.

They currently test 3 systems:

1. Everybody gets a printer for printing a ticket, which is stupid in my mind.
2. everybody gets a special phone number to dial, which is also stupid in my mind :)

3. You dial a number, enter your parking area and your number plate and you are done. This one will succeed I presume.
