I thoght I understood PE figures until I looked at Ingersoll Rand (IR) today. On the COMPANY PROFILE tab, Valuation Ratios, the "Price Earnings" was 1.90 as of 3PM central. I guess this was based upon Per share data showed "Earnings" of $11.07. FANTASTIC! Then you look at quote tab, the P/E ratio is 6.47 which is more realistic given that yearly earnings are/were nowhere near 11.07? Am I reading something wrong?
